The Two Fridas (Spanish: Las dos Fridas) is an oil painting by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, painted in 1939, the same year she divorced the artist Diego Rivera. It is a double self-portrait depicting two seated versions of Kahlo side by side, one wearing a white European-style Victorian dress and the other a traditional Tehuana dress, their hands joined and a blood vessel winding from their joined hands through their exposed hearts. It was the first large-scale work Kahlo completed and is considered one of her most notable paintings.
